We reach out to all those who share our belief in the power of collective action, in the service of a better food future and more balanced and humane societies.
The founders of the union
The creation of the African Union of Professional Chefs is the result of the dedication and vision of a group of chefs, culinary experts, and professionals who believed that Africa, with its rich cultural and culinary diversity, deserved a unified framework to elevate the status of African cuisine on a regional and global scale.
The founders, from different countries, came together around a common vision: to foster collaboration among culinary professionals, promote training, exchange, and mutual support among African chefs, far from the logic of harmful competition or narrow affiliations. This initiative was launched in a genuinely African spirit, drawing its legitimacy from the field and the expertise accumulated by each of the founding members.
Among these founders are pioneers in culinary training, participants in international competitions, and award-winning chefs from North, South, East, West, and Central Africa, who laid the foundations for a union that aspires to become a reference point for all those seeking to develop the culinary arts in Africa and serve the continent through food, education, and sustainable development.
The creation of the Union was a bold and responsible move, responding to an urgent need felt by many African chefs who, for a long time, did not have a continental body to represent them, defend their interests, and offer them a space for expression, learning, and creativity.
Today, the Union continues on its path, remaining faithful to the founding vision and values of solidarity, openness, and professionalism that its founders have upheld from the beginning.
